Dog Tip of The Day, February 28

Make sure you have enough pet food stockpiled in case of disaster,  when a disaster strikes even a flood or snowstorm, you might not be able to get pet food.  The stuff flies off of the shelves.

Dog Tip of The Day, February 28

Well, I have an interesting story to share with you today.  Yesterday I had an all day class in emergency preparedness.  I took my shepherd and he gets to stay in the heated garage.  I would not leave him in the crate in his truck all day.  He got to eat a ham and cheese hoagie with me for lunch along with treats throughout the day.  After I got home from this long day, my wife and I went to McDonalds and we brought a cheeseburger home for him. I also brought home a Big Mac and put it in the refrigerator.  All night and the first thing this morning, he went to the refrigerator after that Big Mac.  He did not forget about it.  That must have been the only thing on his mind all night.  I know people are going to say, “Rich, you shouldn’t feed him people food.”  I say that is a lot of nonsense, he had a good day yesterday because he got to spend the day with me, we got to eat together, play together and he knows that I am around.  I encourage people to form this strong pack bond with their dog. Someone ask me, why would you bring your dog, if you knew you were going to be somewhere all day? it was 8 degrees yesterday, if I get a call that someone is lost out in that weather, would they rather me leave with the dog and come looking for them or would they rather me go home to get him and come back an hour later and look for them?  Turbo is a working dog so he is with me all the time.
