4/30/1777 Johann Gauss mathematician, child prodigy, made mathematical discoveries when he was still a teen, probably one of the greatest mathematicians, perfectionist, when he was told his wife was dying, he said “tell her to wait a moment until I am done,” he disliked teaching, and declined to present the intuition behind his proofs, he also disliked publishing and some say mathematics would have been advanced by 50 years if he had published more timely, he died in 1855 at age 77.
4/30/1916 Claude Shannon mathematician and electrical engineer, he published a paper in 1948 on digital theory and digital circuit design, some say it was the most important thesis of all time. For this he is considered the father of information theory, he died in 2001 at age 84.
Always have poop bags with you. People see you as a more responsible dog owner when you have them. Nothing turns people off against people with dogs like stepping in a pile of it. If you can’t pick it up then maybe a dog is not for you!

4/29/1854 Jules Henri Poincare mathematician, Physicist and philosopher, polymath, he had poor eyesight and motor coordination and in some ways seemed retarded, he formulated the Poincare Conjecture, laid the foundations for chaos theory and was a founder of topology, he died in 1912 at age 58.
4/29/1872 Forest Moulton astronomer, advanced the planetesimal theory of the origin of the solar system, developed the Adams-Moulton method for solving differential equations, he died in 1952 at age 80.
4/29/1893 Harold Urey chemist, played a significant role in development of the atomic bomb and along with Richard Miller, developed a theory of how organic life developed from inorganic gases, he died in 1981 at age 87.
Every now and then I get my dog a special treat, one of those big cow knuckles he can chew on for a few days. Dogs are special and they need treats every now and then. I do the same for my cat, but I don’t get him a cow knuckle, I get him a small catnip mouse he can play with and lay on.

4/28/1774 Francis Baily astronomer, most famous for his discovery of Baily’s beads during a solar eclipse, he died in 1844 at age 70.
4/28/1900 Jan Oort astronomer, famous for saying that all comets had a common place of origin which was later called the Oort cloud, he discovered the galactic halo, he calculated the center of the Milky Way as being 5900 parsecs from earth in the direction of Sagittarius he showed that the Milky Way had a mass of 100 billion times the mass of our sun, he died in 1992 at age 92.
4/28/1906 Kurt Godel mathematician, famous for his incompleteness theorems, he had a fear of being poisoned and had his wife taste his food, when she was hospitalized and couldn’t do this for him, he quit eating and died of starvation, he died at age 71 in 1978.
