Dog Tip of the Day, February 29

I have been talking about dog nutrition this month, so what about eating grass or what do you feed your dog when it is not feeling well?  It is okay for a dog to eat grass, I wouldn’t let them eat grass that has been freshly treated, but any grass out in the wild is okay. Dogs and cats eat grass when they are not feeling well, it makes them vomit. That is okay too, as long as the pet doesn’t vomit too much or it will become dehydrated. You can feed the dog some light food, like rice, or some shredded chicken, maybe even a little mashed sweet potato.  Don’t go crazy with it.  As for vomiting and diarrhea, anytime you change the diet, say you have company and they give the dog too many treats, or they kept sliding it bits off of their plate, expect the dog to have diarrhea and maybe some vomiting.
