Today is the birthday of Amedeo Avogadro, born in 1776, he started out as a lawyer then turned to physics, he is know for his law that states the relationship between the masses of the same volume of different gases (at constant temperature and pressure) corresponds to the relationship between their respective molecular weights.  The number 6.02 X 1023  for a mole of any substance is named after him as Avogadro’s number.
