Science Birthdays, September 25

Today is the birthday of Ole Romer, born in 1710, he made the first quantitative measurements of the speed of light. He also invented the first street lights in Copenhagen.

Today is the birthday of Thomas Hunt Morgan, born in 1866, he demonstrated that genes are carried on chromosomes and are the mechanical basis of heredity. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine in 1933.
