1864      The Indian city of Calcutta is almost completely destroyed by a cyclone killing 60,000 people.

1869      Saxby Gale, the Saxby Gale, devastates the Bay of Fundy region of Maritime Canada. The storm had reportedly been predicted over a year before by a British naval officer.

1948      1948 Ashgabat Earthquake, 110,000 people killed.
