Today is the birthday of Henri Le Chatelier, born in 1850; he is famous for Le Chatelier’s principle which is used to determine the direction of a chemical reaction with a shift in equilibrium.

Today is also the birthday of Otto Warburg, born in 1883, he is known for his discovery of the role of enzymes in plant metabolism and for his hypothesis of the pathogenesis of cancer cells.

Today is also the birthday of Marcus Oliphant, born in 1901, he played a fundamental role in the first demonstration of nuclear fusion and the development of the first atomic bomb.

Ejnar Hertzsprung, born in 1873, is famous for the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram which relates a stars absolute magnitude to its spectral type or classification.
