2007       North American Winter Storm, lasted to Dec 18, at least 22 dead.

1963       Pan Am Flight 214, a Boeing 707 is struck by lightning and crashes near Elkton, Maryland killing all 81 people on board.

This has not been a good day for airline crashes, although not weather related, a Douglas DC-6 went down in Greece in 1969, killing 90 people and in 1972 a Boeing 737 went down in Chicago killing 45, then again in 1988 a A-10 Thunderbolt crashed into an apartment in Germany killing 5.

1966       The Greek ship SS Heraklion sinks in a storm in the Aegean Sea, killing over 200 people.
