Today is the birthday of Jaroslav Heyrovsky, born in 1890, he invented the polarographic method or the field of polarography, he is known as the father of the electroanalytical method, and he received a Nobel Prize for his work in 1959. 

Robert Jemison Van de Graaff, born in 1901 was an American physicist known for designing a high voltage generator.

David Joseph Bohm, born in 1917, was an American theoretical physicist who contributed his unorthodox ideas to quantum theory, philosophy of the mind and neuropsychology.

James Thomson, born in 1958 is an American developmental biologist who derived the first human embryonic stem cell line in 1998.  He also derived the human induced pluripotent stem cells in 2007.
