1169       A strong earthquake struck the Ionian coast of Sicily, causing tens of thousands of victims, especially in Catania.

1797 1797 Riobamba Earthquake strikes Ecuador, 40,000 people killed.

1975       The Haicheng earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale occurred in China, no information on how many were killed.

1976       An earthquake in Quatemala and Honduras killed more than 22,000 people

1998       A 6.1 magnitude earthquake killed more than 5000 people in Afghanistan.

2004       The 2004 Atlantic Hurricane season, four deadly and damaging hurricanes struck Florida, killing a combined 100 people in the United States and causing over 50 billion in damages.
