2/4/1778          Augustin Candolle,     botanist,          He invented the word taxonomy in 1813. He published a 7 volume encyclopedia of plants. He died in 1841 at the age of 63.

2/4/1893          Raymond Dart ,                    anthropologist,            He named Australopithecus in 1924.

2/4/1902          Charles Lindbergh,     aviator,  He flew the Spirit of St. Louis across the Atlantic Ocean in 1927 to win a prize of $25 000. He worked on perfecting an artificial heart and in 1932 his 2 year old son was kidnapped and murdered.

2/4/1906          Clyde Tombaugh,       astronomer,     He was an amateur astronomer who got his degree on a scholarship to the University of Kansas while he worked at the Lowell observatory. He discovered Pluto in 1930.
