1971    A twister in Mississippi killed 73 people, 68 of them in Mississippi and 5 in Louisiana. Additional damage occurred in Texas, but with no fatalities. In Oklahoma, one of the state’s worse winter storms occurred on this same day resulting in 2 deaths. Over two feet of snow fell with drifts as high as 15 feet.
