Dog Tip of The Day, March 20

One of the earliest dog trainers I have heard of was Nguyen Xi. He trained war hounds for Emperor Le Loi in and around 1400 who had a group of about 100 dogs. Although dogs had been used in warfare much earlier than this and someone had to train them, this is the first mention of a dog trainer by name.

It was on this day in 1985, Libby Riddles became the first woman to win the 1,135 mile Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race in Alaska.
