Science Birthdays, April 4

4/4/1823          Sir William Siemens,    inventor, he invented a regenerative furnace that became the open hearth method, he also developed an electroplating process,  he died in 1883 at age 60.

4/4/1846          Raoul Pictet,    chemist,            worked on methods to produce artificial ice, first person to liquefy nitrogen, he died in 1929 at age 83.

4/4/1887          William Rose,  chemist,          He studied the role of amino acids in nutrition. He discovered the essential amino acids in 1937, he died in 1985 at age 98.
