1920    Tornado Outbreak Southeastern U.S., killing 224 people

1997    The Red River Flood of 1997 overwhelms the city of Grand Forks, North Dakota. Fire broke out and spread through downtown Grand Forks, but high water hampered efforts to reach the fire. Eleven buildings were destroyed.
