5/3/1768          Charles Tennant, chemist, he discovered a process to make bleaching powder and started an industrial dynasty, he died at age 70 .

5/3/1892          Sir George Thomson,   physicist , only son of J.J. Thomson, Worked under Millikan received a Nobel Prize for his work on electron diffraction, he died in 1975 at age 83.

5/3/1902          George Kastler, physicist, developed the theory of optical pumping which led to lasers and masers.
