Science Birthdays, May 5

John Draper, born in 1811,     chemist,           pioneer in photochemistry, discovered the “Draper point” all substances at about 525 C glow a dull red. He was the first to produce photomicrographs. He died in 1882 at age 71.  Ok this is what you do.  Get out a torch of some sort and light it.  Hold a bobby pin in the flame until it turns red, when that happens it will be 525 degrees Celsius.  That is the Draper Point.
