1905    Snyder Oklahoma Tornado, 97 people killed.

1997    A 7.3 Mw of 7.3 struck Iran’s Khorasan Province, killing 1,567 and injuring over 2,300, leaving 50,000 homeless, and damaging or destroying 15,000 homes.

2008    An EF4 tornado struck the Oklahoma-Kansas state line, killing 21 people and injuring over 100.

Mw is the moment magnitude scale. The w stands for work. Mw = 2/3 log10 (Mo) -10.7 where Mo is the seismic moment in dyne cm.
