Science Birthdays, May 25

5/25/1860        Daniel Barringer,         geologist,          discovered what has become to be known as the Great Barringer meteor crater in an Arizona desert. He died in 1929 at age of 69. He was a Princeton grad.

5/25/1865        Pieter Zeeman,            physicist,          showed that light in an intense magnetic field broke up into three components. He was a student of Lorentz. He died in 1943 at age 78.
