1783    Laki, Iceland, 9,350 people killed. This volcano erupted for eight months and started a seven year famine.

 1953    An F5 tornado struck Beecher, Michigan killing 116 people.

1966    An F5 tornado struck Topeka, Kansas becoming the first to exceed $100 million in damages. This tornado killed 16 people.
