Dog Tip of The Day, June 13

Over the past few days I have been talking about instinctive drives in dogs. Just about everyone who has a dog has trained it to some degree. It could be as simple as telling the dog to sit and roll over, or it could be much more like training the dog for search and rescue. When we go beyond this to try and understand how dogs learn these behaviors it is a science called operant conditioning. So here is a new science term for you, operant conditioning. Stick with me for the next few days, weeks, months, whatever it takes and we will try to learn a little about how our four legged friends learn.  What’s the work? Operant Conditioning!
