One thing about training dogs is you don’t have to be a psychologist to experiment. Just don’t hurt the dog. Remember our primary rule, no negative reinforcement. Yesterday I talked about early humans training wolves. No one knows who the first trainer was, but they weren’t psychologists, at least not one your going to find in a book. The earliest recorded record was a Roman farmer named Marcus Varro who recorded dog tips between 127 and 116 BC. That is going back a ways and I am sure he wasn’t the first one. Varro was training his dogs for heading, and the Romans would use them along marches.
