Dog Tip of The Day, July 18

I talked about Blanche Saunders, the author of the Complete Book of Dog Obedience. Although she had many techniques that today we would consider negative reinforcement, one thing she did say was “Too Little praise” was the most common mistake of dog owners. I am not sure if I would go so far as to say it was the most common mistake, but it is a mistake. Praise the dog often when they are performing desirable behavior. Praise works better if it is accompanied with a food treat, especially in the early phases of training.
