Science Birthdays, July 28

Today is the birthday of Earl Tupper, born in 1907, after failing in business he got a job at Dupont Chemical Company. They gave him some pieces of polyethylene slag, Tupper took the inflexible slag, purified it and formed it into bowls and lids.  Today it is called Tupperware.  He divorced his wife, gave up his U.S. citizenship to avoid taxes, sold the company and bought an island in Costa Rica.
